Paper Abstract:      E-commerce as a part of the economy is growing stronger and stronger. In Europe the overall consumption in e-commerce was estimated to be over 363 billion euros in 2013 (Ecommerce Europe, 2014). In this paper our purpose is to find out the factors that reveal why e-commerce is in such a low level in Finland, although all prerequisite conditions are well met. The level of digitalization is introduced via three surveys: the global Digibarometri (DIGILE et al., 2015), the national SME Barometer (The Federation of Finnish Enterprises, 2015) and our local research from South Savo called the Digipuntari (Koskinen, 2014). The prerequisities of e-commerce are discussed and compared to the actual adaptation of e-commerce among Finnish companies. The key findings pointed to issues in the business models and revenue logic. Furthermore, we also found out that leadership and culture of organization have their own effect.
